Funky Tiles Tutorial
There are lots of tutorials for Mosaic type backgrounds. But I really
like the random funkiness you can make with this filter. Here is an example
of what we are going to make.

This tutorial was written for PSP 8 but should work in other versions. It
is my own creation. Any similarity to other tutorials is coincidental.
For this tutorial, I am using the awesome work of Jeff Lyons. You
can see more of his art at http://www.lyonsart.com/
You will need:
Paint Shop Pro
This Supply Zip
which includes the tube and a mask. Be sure to add the copyright info if
you use this tube. You could also use a tube and mask of your choice.
This background looks nicer with brighter, funkier tubes than with softer
ones.
Mehdi Sorting Tiles filter – you can download it
here.
Font of your choice - I used
MA Sexy
Open the mask and the tube of your choice in PSP. Open a new transparent
canvas 350 x 250. Select a color from your tube and flood fill your
canvas. I used the bright green in her dress. Click on your selection
tool. Use these settings – Rectangle, Add, Feather = 0, Anti-Alias
checked. Start making random rectangles on your flood filled layer. There
is no science to this. Just whatever you feel like to add blocks of color.
Mine looked like this.

Now select another color from your tube. I used a red shade from her cheek.
Flood fill the rectangles. Deselect.
Use your rectangle tool again to draw a few more random squares. I used
black to flood fill these on both tubes. A little black goes a long way,
so not too many or too large on this one.

Flood fill with black or the accent color of your choice. Deselect. This
should all be done on the same layer. If you did them on different layers,
merge them now.
Effects> Mehdi> Sorting Tiles. Use these settings.
